Justin Groves was born and raised in Australia. He first became interested in performing arts late at school and indulged in it throughout years 11 and 12. At  university he commenced a Bachelor of Contemporary Dance which he studied for a year before changing direction and universities to study drama. Justin graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts majoring in Theatre with a minor in Theory and an associate degree in movement. He has trained in classical and contemporary theatre theory and practices, voiceovers, contemporary and classical dance as well as non-western movement training and performance styles.

Justin works as a creative here in Australia, but has worked extensively across London and through Europe. He is passionate about Theatre, Physical theatre, films and web-series and has worked heavily as a creator, performer and director. He is  one of the Co-creators of The Ambitious Act. A cafe in South Melbourne that is open to creatives to come create, rehearse, shoot, take classes, get headshots taken, and soon offer equipment for performers to work on their voiceovers. 

He shot his first short film Acceptance (London, 2015). It had a really successfully film festival run, being played in over 25 film festivals globally. I filmed Sausage (Melbourne, 2018) and most recently Taken for Granted (Melbourne, 2020) which is still yet to be finished.

 
Most recently Justin has performed alongside John Hanna in a feature film entitled Genesis Which is due to be released next year.
Justin also has another feature film in the works at the moment entitled The Rizen. He has performed in two popular music videos. One with British Pop icon Will Young entitled Thank You. Also performing with internationally renown signer song writer MIKA on his music video Good Guys
 
Justin has performed with Synaestheatre Collective on a work in progress called Raven, written and directed by Deborah Ward. Due to the show's success the company will be performing a revised and extended performance at The Space Theatre in a two week season this August. In December the company will be travelling internationally to Avignon, France for a two week season in their first international debut.
 
Recent voiceovers that Justin has worked on include adverts for Spotifiy, Bupa Health Insurance, Travel Counsellers and National Geographic. 
 

Over the past eight years Justin has worked constantly with Robert Lewis' Voice Theatre Lab in Australia. Justin has collaberated both as a choreographer and performer with the company on a number of projects.

 

As well as choreographing and performing, Justin has directed several performances, his most successful being Marble Arch by John Mortimer staged at the Annexe Theatre in 2012. Justin will shortly undertake his first short film as the director on short film  Acceptance Part 1.
